The special designated CBI court pronounced sentences on 16 more convicts in connection with the multi-crore rupee fodder scam case unearthed during unified Bihar.
CBI special judge Pankaj Kumar Mishra gave rigorous imprisonment with fines to 16 senior and lower rung government employees, involved in fraudulent withdrawal of Rs 11.9 crore from Doranda treasury.
Dr Junul Bhengraj, former Regional Director, was given seven years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) with a fine of Rs 50 lakh, Dr K. Jha, former Regional Director, was awarded six years of RI with a fine of rupees eight lakh, SP (CBI) R C Chaudhuri said adding Dr K M Prasad, former Assistant Director, was slapped with seven years of RI and fine.
Others, who were punished, included former Budget and Accounts Officer D V Prasad, Dr Gauri Shankar Prasad, Dr P N Sharma, Dr Gaya Prasad, Dr Dukhit Ram, Dr Ram Laxman Singh, Dr S Kumar Sharma, Dr Venkateshwar Nath Pandey, Dr Yogesh Chandra Verma, Dr Raman Kumar Sinha, former statistical assistant Parameshwar Prasad Yadav, former assistant treasury officer Jibendra Narayan Chaudhury and former accountant Rajendra Pandey.
The quantum of their punishment ranged from RI to fines depending on their crime.
The court convicted 9 people, the CBI, SP said and added that remaining 23 of total 48 convicts in the Doranda Treasury related case would be taken up.
