A person whose name is given as reference to a bank or similar organisation is no way responsible for any action of the person who gave him name as reference. Did you sign anywhere as a referee? Even if you had signed as a referee you are no way responsible. You can ignore the calls from the bank.

Your imaginary story is nice to hear but canot be believed.
If a third perswon who is not know to you is allowed to avail loan then anyone can obtain loan on anyone.
Hence hypothetical questions may be avoided.
