A nine-month pregnant woman has alleged that her live-in partner promised her marriage but married another woman.
According to the police, the 30-year-old woman used to work in a catering company where she met Trilok Ameta, 35.“She is a divorcee and was staying with her mother in Dahisar. After several meetings, Ameta proposed to her and they had a physical relationship. He promised that he would marry her,” said a police officer.
“In 2008, the woman had an argument with her mother and started living with Ameta in his rented room in Dahisar’s Ashokvan area,” said police inspector Anil Pawar.
He added that they had told their neighbours that they had married in a temple. From 2009 to 2010, the victim got pregnant twice but Ameta forced her to abort. “He told her he wanted to buy his own house and then they should plan for child,” said Pawar.
Ameta’s father and his two relatives came to Mumbai from their native place, Rajasthan, after they came to know about their relationship. They wanted her to leave Ameta and they were ready to pay her for it. “When she refused, they threatened her,” said another officer.
“In January when the woman told Ameta that she was pregnant, he told her that he had some important work in Rajasthan and would return in a week,” said Pawar.
“After a week when she called him, Ameta told her that the work was not over. After two months, Ameta stopped answering calls and changed his number,” said Pawar.
The woman, in her statement, said she came to know from one of Ameta’s relative that he had married another woman in Rajasthan. “We have booked Ameta under several sections of the Indian Penal Code including rape, cheating and criminal intimidation,” said Pawar
