Indian Nuclearism: Tamil State can solve the electricity problem without Kudankulam terror nuclear project -DR. ABDUL RUFF _______ Unnecessarily and dangerously, the Indian rulers and their political agents residing in Tamil state have been harpooning on the notorious nuclear project in Kudankulam. Although it has no majority in the parliament, the Congress party and its secret ally BJP are spearheading the pro-nuclear terror project. But, saving as well as securing the life of people from permanently hostile health hazards owing to nuclear radiation ill-effect is more important than getting some electricity at their own cost. Humanity has plenty of means to generate enough electricity without resorting to nuclear terrorism. The viability of the envisaged power plants — the 1200MW at Tuticorin by a private player, the 1300MW thermal plant at Cuddalore, by private entity, and the 4000MW plant at Kancheepuram and the 1600 MW at Jayamkondan — should be looked at. Opposition to the nuke project from residents in the district became all the more fierce after the disaster at Japan's Fukushima nuclear power plant in March last year. The project, already delayed for various reasons, continues to be gridlocked and it needs to be abandoned for the sake of people of Tamil State. 4000 MW from renewable energy such as wind (3000MW projected to be harvested by the wind turbines) and 6000 MW from public sector projects. Expansion plans for thermal stations in North Chennai (1200MW) and Mettur (600MW) were part of these calculations in 2009, as stated by the then Electricity Minister Arcot N Veerasamy in the Assembly. Also in the making were the 1200 MW capacity thermal project in Vallur, which was projected to generate 1000MW initially, the 1600 MW Udangadi, another thermal power plant, and a coal based power project at Tuticorin, capable of generating 1000 MW. Most of these should have been completed by 2011. But both the Tamilnad and Indian government played havoc with people. Apart from the heavy consumption of electricity by the automobile sector, the use of electrical appliances such as mixer, grinders and electronic items have also grown massively in the state. All these issues lead to frequent outages which serve to only cause more outrage. With known power theft and illegal connections very much a reality — as in any city in the country — the need to balance power generation and distribution is paramount. However, residents can play a more pro active role in being more vigilant about such thefts. More private players should be invited and encouraged to invest not just in the plant, but also in state-of-the-art infrastructure. Chennai (Madras) the even growing capital of Tamil State has faced severe water and electricity problems. Water problem has been satisfactorily solved and electricity issue needs to address properly without talking the dangerous nuclear terror routes. Between 2001 and 2011, Chennai's population increased by three lakh, according to 2011 census). The city has not seen a major industrial or entrepreneurial influx, with the hotel and eateries industry being an exception. Appeals to the central government have to be made as often as possible for a helping hand without threatening the people with nuclear terror attacks. More hydro-electric power stations and windmills should be planned now well in advance so that there would no emergency in future for short cuts. An observation Arms, liquor and nuclear deals offer sumptuous commissions in crores of rupees or dollars and hence many agents oppose the people and have joined the nuclear terror chorus. It is indeed sad even as the pro-nuclear terror gangs are demanding the dangerous nuclearism in Kudankulam, the political parties in TN and the workers, artists, cinema personas who play the ordinary heroes, fighting for the cause of ordinary, defenseless masses, keep mum, refusing to support the popular struggle for justice against nuclear threat.. Those who can should extent moral, voice, personal and monetary support to defend the Tamil and Indian soil from UNSC maneuverings to impose nuclearism on Indian people. . Eventually, people alone shall be victorious and no nuclear terror threat would be there in Kudankulam. -------- د. عبد راف Dr. Abdul Ruff, Specialist on State Terrorism; Educationalist;Chancellor-Founder of Centor for International Affairs(CIA); Independent Analyst;Chronicler of Foreign occupations & Freedom movements(Palestine,Kashmir, Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Xinjiang, Chechnya, etc); Anti-Muslimism and anti-Islamism are more dangerous than "terrorism" Anti-Islamic forces & terrorists are using criminal elements for terrorizing the world and they in disguise are harming genuine interests of ordinary Muslims.
