According to the Transplant of Human Organ  Act (THOA), Living Donor is any person not less than 18 years of age, who voluntarily authorizes the removal of any of his organs and/or tissue, during his or her lifetime, as per prevalent medical practices for therapeutic purposes.

The punishment for illegal organ trafficking is upto 10 years of imprisonment and a fine upto 1 crore.
