General body meeting

I own a flat in a registered housing society in Mumbai, which is rented to a family. Since I am not staying in the flat I am unable to attend the society meetings. The society has decided to impose a fine of Rs. 500/- on the absetees in every meeting. Is it legitimate ? How many meetings the society can call in a year where they can impose this restriction ?

Can anyone help me with my questions please

annual general meeting is only once ayear . objective is to encourage members to attend the annual meeting as generally members dont attend and there is no quorum . pay the fine
