Rti related for train tickets

Hi ,

please clarrify my doubt.

can we file a RTI application for IRCTC with the PNR number for getting the details whether the passengers mentioned  in the tickets travelled or not.

also can RTI be applicable to UPSC  to get the details whether the candidate appeared for exam or not

RTI holds only for informations of public interest. specifically, the following is exempt from disclosure :

"Information which relates to personal information the disclosure of which has no relationship to any public activity or interest, or which would cause unwarranted invasion of the privacy of the individual "

So, if you can establish such public interest RTI provisions can be used.

OTOH, if you need these informations for your personal interest- cases pending in court for example where such information could be relevant - you can move an application in the Court accordingly. if court requires then public authorities will have to provide such informations to further the cause of justice.

hi all,

thank you for your valuable responses provided.

in DVC cases will court send letters to UPSC for providing candidates information?

will it have any time limit for furnishing the information?

my trails in DVC case and 498A case is about to start , for this do i need to request court to seek information from UPSC ?
