Stamp paper value

Dear Sir,

I have entered a 3 yrs rent agreement with the landlord in west bengal for business. The agreemnet drafted on Rs. 50/- non judicial stamp paper. The stamp paper purchased by landlodr's advocate in his name. In this event is the rent agreement valid? Pl. advise.

A rent agreement exceeding an year shall be registered and the stamp duty shall be payable on the total annual rent payable. Usually the stamp duty varies from 3-4%. In the absence of registratio of the lease agreement, it is invalid. Also, the stamp duty has not been paid as required. For any clarification, write to me at mittaljets@gmail.com. As the Rent Agreement you are talking about is for 3 years then it needs to be Registered because Notarized Rental Agreement is fine if it's for 11 months, for the Agreement duration of more than 11 months then it is important to make it register.

And talking about the Stamp Duty, stamp Duty varies from State to State, if the Stamp Duty of Rs. 50 is the prescribed stamp Duty set by the Goverment in your State then it's valid.
