Road accident case process and claim

My brother met an accidental death in 2016. We lodged FIR and hired a lawyer to proceed with the legal action for the same. Initially he prepared the case papers and assured for claim of 35 lakh as my parents and two sisters including me we're dependent on my brother. Now it's two years passed and we don't see anything happen from lawyer side. If we want to consult any other lawyer he is not co-operative to share the previous records. when we ask for a status update he is not sharing any concrete information.can someone help me how to proceed and what should I do.
