Regarding validity of 3months for cheques

I have deposidted a cheque dated 31-March-2018 in Dropbox on 29th June 2018 in HDFC dropbox.

Today i.e. 30th June 2018 the banker called me to inform that the cheque in question cannot be sent for clearing as it is a stale cheque. The validity of 3months expires on 29th June and not 30th June.

I wanted to know if the HDFC bank is right in considering the cheque as stale.

as I think that the cheque is valid up to 30th June as time limit of 3Months is mentioned and not 90 days.

I need a clarification in this regard from the experts.

the cheque validity date is 90days
in your case 31march(1 day)+April(30)+May(31)+ june28) = 90days. HDFC is right

the cheque should come to HDFC on or before 28th June

Cheque dated: 01.01.2017 is vaild upto 31.03.2017 and it cannot be encashed on 01.04.2017 (Number of days involved : 31 + 28 + 31 = 90) Cheque dated: 01.04.2017 is valid upto 30.06.2017 and it cannot be encashed on 01.07.2017 (Number of days involved: 30 + 31 + 30 = 91)
