Potential for false criminal case?

I wanted to reply to an existing thread, but that thread is now spammed with unnecceasry replies.

Anyway, I am an NRI and I asked if I should visit India at attend civil court case, if the other party threatens to file lock me down, the moment they see me. I received responses to not worry about it, if there is NOT  a criminal case.

My query is, how do I find out if there is no criminal case like 498A, DV etc. on my name before I arrive? Can they really get that barbaric with the intent to disallow me to travel overseas?

Thanks.

You're right the general forum is badly Spammed by number of fraud persons representing as advocate/lawyer so best you should post query in the Experts forum for correct guidance.

Anyhow you can find about the criminal FIR u/s 498A IPC from the local Police station where your wife lives in India, a proper Register is mantained for registered FIR of all congisable offences.

For the DV criminal complaint case you will get to know from the court of the Judicial Magistrate or the Protection Officer's office of the district where your wife lives. The jurisdiction of the judicial magistrate is based on the Police station under whose jursidiction your wife is living now in India.

You may engage local advocate for this service of getting the correct information for you.
