Nalsa- national legal services authority

My grandmother, aged 79, is required to pay stamp duty of Rs.150000/-, in a civil court under a fresh case to be filed by her to receive a sum of Rs.50 lakhs due from a partnership firm. Is it possible for her to apply to NALSA for granting her relief from paying the amount of stamp duty. Kindly guide the procedure to apply if such exemption/relief could be availed. Thankyou.

She has to prove that her income is very low to spend the stamp duty. Income certificate from the collector is necessary  for such exemptions from the duty

She can file a pauper petition under the provisions of law to declare her as a pauper and then file the said civil suit with an undertaking to make good the court fee on receipt of the amount from the suit filed now.

Better consult an experienced lawyer having expertise on such matters before proceeding further.
