Life imprisonment

Recently several state governments have been releasing life convicts (AP, Telengana and Karnataka) at festival time disregarding the supreme court's position on this. Does not life imprisonment mean life. or is it only 14 years. I am planning on filing a PIL on this. Any ideas about how to go about this.

Yes, it is commendable, have a RTI on No. of prisoners released for the past so many years and how many of them got rehabitated and how many of them still under watch for criminal activities, reason for premature releasing, and how many convicts have political affiliations. Its hell of a job, but does lot for the society. KEEP GOING WISH U ALL THE BEST.

Yes life imprisonment means for life. But most state governments dont seem to be obeying the supreme court regulations that release after 14 years has to be done on a case by case basis. Mass releases during republic day celebrations of life convicts can have dangerous repercussions for society. I want to file a PIL against this in the supreme court. Trying to find a supreme court lawyer who can do this.
