           Congress president Sonia Gandhi has taken serious note of the growing tendency among Congress leaders of attending caste-based functions. Digvijay Singh recently attended the Kshatriya Mahasabha Sammelan, organisers of which were BJP functionaries.

To the disgust of the UPCC chief Rita Bahuguna, Diggy now wants to visit the Gorakhnath Temple run by Rajput Mahants Adityanath and Awaidhnath of the BJP. Bhupinder Singh Hooda recently attended a Jat function in Delhi organised by the late BJP chief minister Sahib Singh Verma’s son Pravesh Verma. The Mumbai PCC Chief Kripa Shankar Singh has lodged a complaint with Sonia Gandhi against a Congress leader Harbans Singh who is organising a Thakur Mahasabha in Mumbai where he has invited Amar Singh to be the chief guest. Sonia is said to have sent a stern message to party leaders to avoid attending such caste-based functions as it is against the very ethos of the party which is against the use of caste or religion in politics.
