False fir by false name

A false FIR was lodged by an informant by a false name to a police station. Then, i want to know that if i give proof to the police that the name of informant is not that which was used to file the FIR, then, can the FIR be cancelled on this ground?

Once an FIR has been filed the police are legally bound to start investigating the case.On the flipside, after their investigations if the police conclude that there is not enough evidence or proof that a crime has been committed they can close the case after justifying their reasons in court
