Cross examining own witness

There are circumstances, when your own witness turn hostile and gives testimony against you in the Court during the course of Cross Examination. There is provision in the Indian Evidence Act which permits the party to Cross Examine its own Witness. Section 154 of the Indian Evidence Act permits the same. Question is this, in case the party cross-examine its own witness on the point , which adverse, then what would be fate of other statement, which were given by the hostile witness in favour of the witness. Whether the party can rely upon the other favourable statement givne by the hostile witness.
