I have filed complaint in District Consumer Forum against a builder in May 2013. The compensation claimed is Rs. 15 lacs with interest for delay. The opposite party didnot raise any queries during earlier hearings but now when case has come to submission of evidance , he is saying that the case is outside Disrict Forum jurisdiction if you add interest to claim compensation amount(it will exceed 20 lacs) Is this correct? what does the law say and what is a solution? I am more interested in punishment to builder rather than mere compension. What should be correct reply for this?
