498a - passport renewal

Dear Experts

I live in India, and accused no.4 in my brother's false dowry cases. 498A trial is going on.

Now, I have to renew my passport. Could anyone please advice me the procedure that I should follow to renew my passport without any problem.

It was told that the police checkup will be done again during renewal. Can I renew the passport? I may have to go abroad for some projects soon, if so, should I inform court and get permission?

FYI, we all are on bail except my brother who is a foreign national.

Please provide me the valuable information.

You can apply for its renewal to the magistrate though in pending cases the court would allow renewal for a period of 1 year. Apply for passport renewal and post getting the order from the court submit the same to the passport office. While securing the order the court may require surety, if it is not given when the bail was secured under sec 67.
