can a daughter sue her father for the property?

Querist : Anonymous (Querist) 20 April 2010 This query is : Resolved
There are 2 sisters, but the father favors the elder daughter and ignores the younger one. Not a single penny is ever given to the younger daughter while her elder sister enjoys all the property. can a daughter sue her father for the property? Does her being married or not married make any difference? She stays alone away from their family. Please advise.

If the property/money is self earned, then the daughter can not sue the father.

If married, father has no liability to maintain her. If unmarried girl, father has duty to maintain her.

Yes reply by Mr. N. Ramesh is substantial and it clarifies your issue

You didn't mentioned about the property's status that its ancestral or self acquired.. If its ancestral mean by birth itself she have rights to sue for partition.. If its self acquired by her father mean its her father's discretion.. Same time if she not married mean its the father's duty to take care of that daughter's day to day needs.. If her father avoid her mean she can file m.c against her father..
