Is registration of marriage compulsory in India, if so by virtue of which authority ie., law, judicial precedent or any other government notification. Please tell me

I think the Central Government of India asked to legislate compulsory registration marriages and suggested on the criteria that States have better understanding of the social structure and local conditions existing in their respective states. so check in your state.

The registration of marriage is compulsory in India under The Hindu Marriage Act (sec. 8), The Indian Christian Marriage Act (Part IV), The Special Marriage Act (sec. 15).
