Self cheque payment, presented by third party at home branch

Sir,

can a self cheque signed by the account holder both the sides of cheque and presented by a third party at counter of home branch be paid or not. If payable any upper limit . Pl share the section of NI act

If the word " Or bearer " is not scored off in the cheque it is thus a bearer cheque and the possessor of such a cheque could be termed as holder in due course - Kerela high Court -2016

There is no limit for any cheque amount including self cheque or bearer cheque or cash cheque.If any doubt or clarification the bankers would verify with the issuer /account holder.

Very vague question in the absence of description of any real problem.

It depends upon the discretion of the banker to pay or not to pay in the interest of the depositor, particularly when the cheque is of a very high amount and the banker does not know the bearer of the cheque.

Safety and security of the money of the account holder cannot be jeopardized and the NI Act cannot also ignore the fact, when the banker is in doubt and the account holder is also not aware about the presentation of the cheque.
