sunday compulsory holiday

sir,
is any rule to close the kirani & provisions shops on sundays in karnataka state.

please clarify.

It is not necessary that Sunday should be treated as holiday. However, under the provisions of Shop and Commercial Establishment Act of every State, it is mandatory to provide one weekly off to the employee of shop and of commercial establishment. This weekly off days are decided by the concerned labour department with the consultation of the District Magistrate of the District. This decision is administrative.

There is no law in karnataka as sunday is Holiday. but as per law the management has to show the weakly off in the notice board

weekly off day for a specific area under Shop and Commercial Establishment is decided by the Labour Department with the consultation of District Magistrate as it is based requires law and order condition position of that particular area. This decision is purely administrative. The management of an establishment has no role.
