Encumbrance Certificate

Respected Experts,

Please explain the meaning of "Encumbrance Certificate". Only I know that this Certificate is issued by Sub-Registrar in respect of legal disputes of the land. What procedure need to be followed in order to get the encumbrance certificate in Maharashtra specifically in Bombay & Thane.

EC pertaining to a property shows the registered transactions taken place with respect to that property. You have to file an application along with prescribed fee, before the registrar's office under whose jurisdiction the property is situated. You have to mention the details of the property such as Survey number, boundaries etc., Regards Srinivas BSST
