Mutation of a flat

(Querist) 20 September 2010 This query is : Resolved
I have recently purhcased a flat and deed of conveyance has been done. I like to get the mutation of the property through local municipality. At the time of registration, market value of the flat is noted in the Deed of Conveyance at Rs. 17.30 lakh.

My queries are-

(i) what are the charges payable for such mutation
(ii)whether any fee @1 per cent on market value of the flat is payable?
Thanks in advance.

Dear Mr. Kapoor,
Different rates are applicable in different municipalities. So contact the Municipal Authorities concerned, or the local advocate, who will be in a better position to advise.
Tribhuwan Pandey (Expert) 20 September 2010
Mutation charges depends on the municipality concern.
There is no concern with market value on mutation.
If you are doing mutation in delay then extra charges will be payable.
Surrender K Singal (Expert) 20 September 2010
Such charges / fees are prescribed by the concerned Municipalality / Corporation

Only property tax amount is based on value of the property.
The fee/ charge for transfer of name does not have any connection with the value.
But the fee vary among the Municipalities
