Compliant by Neighbours

Querist : Anonymous (Querist) 05 April 2010 This query is : Resolved
Dear Sir,

My wife had a major fight with one of our neighour last week (both were ladies) and unfortunately I got drug into this fight. Since we are new in this area and most of the residents are being staying here for 30 years. The neighbour along with majoirty of the society members have filled a compliant with society against me (not my wife) saying "I have been fighting and harrasing them for 2 years and tried to beat them up. They are ladies alone at home and are afraid that I would kill them".

I am completely stattered and my image has completely been blown out. I dont know what to do. I would like to know :
1) What are the legal options I have to take against them ( I am alone against 10 society members)
2) How can this have impact in future on me
3) Would it better to move out of this locality or to continue

My intention is not to fight with anyone but would like to know how can I safeguard myself in future against this compliant.

As the complaint is lodged with society, and not with the police, no need to worry. The society may warn you. If you feel frustrated with the attitude of the neighbors it is better to shift from that area. If you drag the matter, there is a possibility that they may pull you to police. You being new to that area, none of the inmates in the society support your case.

Dear Sir,
thankyou. As you mentioned, the society understood our version and said us to take care in future.
But I am afraid for future and if they go to police what options I have. In this situation, can I do something to protect myself from any harrasment in future and should I make a police compliant against them.

You should intimate the police station of your area in writing about the whole episode and get the D.D. entry no. it will help you in future.

i agree wtih Mr. Yadav, however try to maintain as much cool as possible....m not saying that you are wrong but a bit of peace is always welcome among neighbours :)

Why to stay in such an unfavorable environment. Better vacate the house and shift to a new location. Any rift emanated with the neighbours, unless amicably settled and friendship restored, would always give way for future altercations which is not conducive for any family environment.
