Law is unlike other academic subjects is a serious application of rule of law, if a professor does not know the rule of law like law makers what he can contribute by teaching law, law works on accepted set procedures and statutes are invariably doubtful law, so it is questionable. so professors of law would improve the legal system, as there is no age of retirement in logic but logic only improves any law or legal system.
law is everyday matures for maturing it needs new kinds of input like the senior professors of law could advance, more than just LL.Bs or LL.Ms without practice in courts, i would add all law faculty men need to have had minimum five years practice in any court, that way it could help the law teacher some idea of how courts handle issues.
professors of law since teach laws they can get the fight grip to how judges decide issues, besides professors of law could bring in new kind of think in interpretation of law, i think
good attempt, right thought. only all law professors need to be enrolled in bar councils to follow the advocate act .
Although this article noticed belatedly, I am tempted to see merits in the arguments advanced by the author. When professors in the U.S. are allowed legal practice in the courts, one fails to understand the logic as to why this cannot be done in India. It cannot be that Lawyers are afraid of competition from the Professors ! It is unfair to have such restrictions.
I have done 3 year law after BA and worked in Legal Dept. of a company for 15 years. I would like to practice after retirement. Can become Bar Council Member of HC. For practising whether Sanad required or any other requirement to be fulfilled.
total agreement with Mr. VR Shroff. this needs to be changed!
Those Advocates employed full time for Pvt Ltd Company in their Legal Dept, cannot represent even their Company, and Co have to hire outside Advocate paying Fees.
It clearly shows a salary earner cannot practice is objective of Law maker.
To be available at any time: This condition justify.
nothing to do with june notification. The professors are full time employees of colleges and no full time employees are allowed to practice law and appear in courts (other than for their own cases or the case of their employers).
I am in total agreement with Dr Tabrez. An article which look ahead for a better future and justice.
