Bank demanding additional processing charges

Sir, My uncle had applied for personal loan in HDFC Bank. Few days back he got a call from DFC Banks field officer saying that he need to pay an amount of INR 10000.00 immediately as additional processing charges as it was found that he has two pan numbers in his name, which my uncle himself was not aware. My uncle immediately applied for the cancellation of the second PAN number. He has not misused any of the PAN cards. The bank has not disbursed any amount whatsoever till now but they are repeatedly calling and even warning us for taking legal action against us. Also in this process they had asked my uncle to open an account with their bank so that the personal loan can be approved easily. Please advise as what action can be taken against the Branch Manager, the field officer and the auditor who are involved in this.

Record all calls.

Obtain authenticated copies of all docs signed by you.

Ask them to narrate what legal action is applicable against you.

The bank can decline to pay the loan.

It can have damaging effect on credit score.

Defend your interest.

Show all docs to a very able counsel specializing in banking/consumer matters.
