UPON hearing counsel the Court made the following O R D E R Applications have been filed by the petitioner to implead the States of Maharashtra, West Bengal, Delhi and the Union Territory of Puducherry, which are yet to be registered. Leave is given to the petitioner to file the same in the Registry and on the oral prayer made in support of such applications, the same are allowed. Let the above-mentioned States and Union Territory, be added as respondents in the writ petition. The amended memo of parties may be filed within two days. Furthermore, in keeping with the request made, when the writ petition was presented yesterday (29.11.2012), the learned Attorney General is also present on behalf of the Union of India. Let Rule issue on the writ petition and let such Rule be served on the added respondents, both in the usual course and also by way of Dasti service, through their respective Standing Counsel. As far as the Union of India is concerned, service of notice is dispensed with. The respondents will be entitled to file their respective counter affidavits in the writ petition within four weeks. Rejoinder, if any, may be filed within two weeks thereafter. Let this matter be listed after six weeks (14.01.2013) for further consideration. The State of Maharashtra, in particular, is directed to explain the manner in which Ms. Shaheen Dadha and Ms. Renu Srinivasan, came to be arrested in connection with the posting made by Ms. Dadha on Facebook. Before we part with this matter today, let it also be noted that an application has been filed by Shri Aseem Trivedi, for being impleaded as a party in these proceedings. Since the applicant is also a victim of the action taken by the Mumbai Police under Section 66A of the Information Technology Act, 2000, let his application be filed in the Registry and on the oral prayer made on his behalf by Mr. Mohit D. Ram, learned Advocate, appearing in support of the application, let Shri Trivedi be also added as a respondent in the writ petition.
