Additional solicitor general Mohan Parasaran is set to represent the government in the Supreme Court in the Reliance Industries (RIL)
versus Reliance Natural Resources (RNRL) case.
“Mr Parasaran has been reappointed as additional socilitor general (ASG) for the Supreme Court and he would continue to represent the government in this (RIL vs RNRL) case,” a senior official in the government, who didn’t wish to be identified, said.
Mr Parasaran had represented the government in this case in the Bombay High Court. Earlier this week, the new government had appointed seven ASGs to the Supreme Court that included the name of Mr Parasaran.
As per the official, Mr Parasaran may continue to have the same old team to represent the government’s interest in this case. The case will come up for hearing in the Apex court on July 20.
The government had brought in Mr Parasaran to represent it in November lest year after its counsel TS Doabia by mistake remarked that NTPC didn’t have a concluded gas contract with RIL. Mr Doabia was, however, retained in the lawyers’ team representing the government.
