Petition filed by Anuradha Bhasin, Executive Editor of Kashmir Times and Teseen Poonawalla against the media curb, detention of political leaders and curfew measures, following the abrogation of the special status are to be heard by the Supreme Court on September 16th.

Anuradha Bhasin has raised the issue of media restrictions due to which the daily publication has stopped and loss is being incurred by the management. The petition also demands the presentation of the notification under which the media restrictions are notified by the Government.

The petitioners have submitted that daily lives of the people living in that area is affected by the massive troop deployment and emergency health services were dysfunctional in the state.

Replying to the petition the Solicitor General stated that various publication houses are functional in the region and only Kashmir Times has chose to stop. The health facilities are also restored back in the state.

The Supreme Court has adjourned the process for another week and also did not address the on-going protest against the decision by government.
