Scandal-hit N.D. Tiwari seemed headed for fresh trouble Friday after the Delhi High Court issued a notice seeking his response to the appeal of Rohit Shekhar, who claims to be the biological son of the veteran politician.

The court admitted the appeal of Rohit and asked Tiwari to file his response by Feb 9, the next date of hearing. A division bench of Chief Justice Ajit Prakash Shah and Rajiv Sahai Endlaw issued the notice.

Rohit has challenged the single bench order of November last year that had dismissed his paternity suit.

"My suit was about meeting with legal status from N.D. Tiwari who has denied me the status of his son," Rohit said in his appeal.

Rohit pleaded that his suit could not be rejected on the ground that he has attained the age of majority. He produced various bits of evidence to show why he had not moved the court earlier.

"I was suffering from brain haemorrhage for the past 10 years, leading to this delay," 29-year-old Rohit said.

The single bench order had said Rohit should have sought a declaration from Tiwari and filed an appeal within three years of attaining the age of majority.

Veteran politician N.D. Tiwari's five-decade-old political career came to a virtual end after a news channel showed explicit clippings an elderly man purported to be 86-year-old Tiwari with three young women in bed last month.

A few days after the news broke, Tiwari resigned from his post as Andhra Pradesh governor, on health grounds.
