SC Reserves Judgement On Sister's Plea Challenging Quashing Of KCOCA Charges Against Accused In Gauri Lankesh Murder Case

The case was about Gauri Lankesh, who was shot dead in Bengaluru in 2017. A plea had been filed by her sister, KavitaLankesh, challenging the Karnataka High Court judgement which quashed charges under Karnataka Control of Organised Crimes Act (KCOCA) against the accused. The plea was heard by a bench comprising Justice AM Khanwilkar, Justice Dinesh Maheshwari and Justice CT Ravikumar.

Plaint Has To Be Rejected If Relief Claimed In It Cannot Be Granted Under Law

The case was of RajendraBajoria v. Hemant Kumar Jalan. The decision was given by Justices L. Nageswara Rao and BR Gavai. It was held by the court that a court has to reject a plaint if it finds that none of the reliefs sought in it can be granted to the plaintiff under the law. It will be necessary to put an end to the sham litigation so that further judicial time is not wasted.

Change Of DOB In Service Records Cannot Be Claimed As Matter Of Right

The case was of Karnataka Rural Infrastructure Development Limited v. T.P. Natarajan. The decision was given by Justices MR Shah and AS Bopanna. It was held by the Court that the employee was not entitled to the decree of declaration. Change of date of birth in the service record cannot be claimed as matter of right, even if there is cogent evidence.

Centre Seeks Clarification From SC In Verdict On Reservation In Promotions For Persons With Disabilities

The case was of Siddaraju v. State of Karnataka. The decision was given by Justices L Nageswara Rao, BR Gavai and Sanjiv Khanna. The Centre has sought a clarification from the Supreme Court with respect to its judgment which declared that persons with disabilities have a right to reservation in promotion.
