OVERVIEW

A constable was beaten to death and a sub-inspector severely injured when a police team went to Kasganj, a district in Uttar Pradesh to present a warrant to a liquor mafia kingpin.

The sub-inspector is being treated in Aligarh, and he is in a serious condition.

It has been alleged that sub-inspector Ashok Kumar was held hostage by the offenders and his colleagues found him in an injured condition. Constable Devendra was reported dead as a result of the assault. After this incident, a suspect was also shot dead.

The suspect who was killed in an exchange of fire had four criminal cases against him.

WHAT IS HAPPENING NOW?

Chandraprakash Singh, District Magistrate of Kasganj District reported that the constable was killed when the police had gone to Nagla Dheemar village in Sidhpura to search for a criminal.

The DM has assured that the guilty will not be spared as the police has already launched an operation against the suspects.

Yogi Adityanath, Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh has ordered the officials to take strict action against the miscreants under the National Security Act.

 The Chief Minister has also declared that an ex-gratia of Rs. 50 lakh to the family of the deceased and job to a family member. He has also asked for proper treatment of the injured.

Manoj Kumar Sonkar, SP of Kasganj stated that attempts are being made to recover the police weapons which were plundered by the offenders.

The Central and State Governments are given power to detain a person in order to prevent him/her from acting in a way that can harm security of India.
