It is happened your factory premises, so police may make an enquiry. Is there any complaint against you by the employee?

If there is any harrasment from anybody in the office or rejected her payments / promotions etc then the management / concerned employee / superior may be made responsible.

The police may interrogate her obtain the information and act accordingly. The entire case goes around the statement produced by the concerned employee & accordingly the police may prepare the FIR.

This matter shall invoke the attention of media and trade unions.

It shall be appropriate to award the fitting punishment to the offender if any, be it even a senior executive/manager of the company and let him face the process of law if the matter results into a police/court case.

Company must not indulge in snubbing the employee to give drafted statement.

HR and in specific you, may limit your self to find out the crux of the matter and report in writing to HOD.

Dear Sir,

This is an occupational hazard which was beyond your control.  However you can take precautions in future.  You should keep such hazardous chemicals and harmful material under lock and key, they should be issued as per use and proper record should be kept.  If you are the HR manager it is imperative that you have one to one dialogue with as many employees as possible, if the workforce is large you can assign this responsibility to your supervisor/departmental head/hod of concerned departments and take regular feed back from them in weekly meetings of the goings on on the shopfloor.  This will help you feel the pulse of the workforce and such incidences can be prevented in time.  The employees themselves will vent their grievances, once they have faith in you.

1. It is an attempt of suicide.

2. File a complaint before Police & ensure that police register an FIR and investigate..

3. Inform to  Factories Department.

4. Suspend employee pending enquiry as he/she used company's material for dangerous purpose  and also for using company's premises for suicide attempt..

5. Take steps to keep such dangerous liquids in safe custody and safe usage.

6. Take an undertaking from all employees/their supervisors who use such liquids in plant and also those who handle for storage/issue/transit etc.,
