Regarding aggregators

Hi All,

Can anyone please tell whether all these aggregators sites (Yatra.com, makemytrip.com or ixigo.com) are legally bound in anyway to the merchant sites. To be more specific, can any aggregator freely collect data(price which is publicly avalilable) from merchant sites (goindigo.com and kingfisher) and compare the prices to suggest buyers the least prices? Or do aggregators need legal permission from merchants to collect publicly available data for the comparison of prices?

Dear Dhyani,

I do not think there could be any restriction on comparing publicly available data including prices. Had some confidential information be made available publicly without permission, the situation would have been different. Consider comparative advertising (which is permissible) wherein say an Tata Indica car is compared with a Maruti Swift in features and pricing in national newspapers.
