Marrying my second cousin is legal or not?

I want to marry my mothers first cousin's(brother's) daughter, basically she is my mama's daughter but that mama is nt my real mama rather he is first cousin of my mother. I asked one laywer he said there is no problem in that. apart from that i studied garun puran and find according to that also I can do it. as we are free from tarpan (sharaad) of the ancestors that we have in common. I also studied that under special hindu marriage act, I can marry her.

Please tell me guys is there any problem in legalizing my marriage?

Get a genetic profiling done before you make babies. There are a few Docs specialised in India who are specialist in Genetic Counselling.

If your customs permits this type of marriage, go ahead. Otherwise it falls under prohibted relations.
