Hi Vasant,

As far as my experience goes in northern part of India, I think  "Khasra" means Revenue Survey Number given to an immovable property.

You have to  Refer the Local area where the land  is Situated !

Sir, the land is in U.P.

Actually nowadays the municipal nos: are given to particular portion of land but i think earlier it is this "Khasra" system was prevalent or (for that matter it is prevalent even today???) to know about the lands details.....like the ownership, possession etc.

I would be greatful if someone throw some light on this....whether i am correct or not.

Hi Vasanth,

Khasara is the survey number given to the agricultural land in Uttrapradesh, Uttrakhand, Haryana and other parts of North India.

Khatoni is the village revenue records which will the following details:-

1. refelect the names of the owner/owners of the land.

2. Extent of the land held by the owner in the said Khasra number.

3. If the land is mortgaged, then it will refelect the details such mortgage.

4. It will also refelect whether the land belongs to any notified community.

This is may also be termed as mutation record. Khatoni will be updated once in 5 years. If the land owner sells the property, then the purchaser has to enter his name in the said Khatoni.

Hope your query is clarified.

Regards,

Satyan
