FIR

If a person is named in an FIR, should he be legally informed that he has been named? IWhat action can be taken by law enforcing agency against the person named in FIR?

No, legally it is not necessary that a peron who is name in a FIR be informed abtout the same as soon as the FIR is lodged. But the law enforcing agency, with whom the FIR is lodged will cause an inquiry to be made and prima facie if it finds that the person name in the FIR has committed an offence alleged in the FIR, then the agency has the right to summon the said person for further inquiry. If the alleged offence is of a cognizable nature then the law enforcing agency can arrest the person even without the order from the court.

Will the law enforcing agency give a copy of the FIR  before conducting the inquiry?  Is FIR same as a ChargeSheet?
