Regarding banking regulations some code of conduct of some banks are unclear and doubtful

Some bank imposes penalty for depositing cash more than five times in a month

Also some banks charges walking charge for the same

Is there any RBI guidelines has been issued authorising the banks to collect excess amount for the nominal services rendered?

one Bank is collecting Rs.100/- for a cash deposit transaction more than five times in a month. kindly any body clarify the same.

Advance thanks

RBI has given policy guidelines on service charges, which can be accessed on www.rbi.org.in. It does not specify detailed rates and types, barring few services. As far as cash deposit is concerned, now most of the banks are charging it, since these banks are required to pay service charges for deposit of cash by them in their accounts with RBI or SBI, which manages clearing houses.

Banking is gradually becoming a paid service. In Japan the bank has to be paid the fee for keeping the deposits of customers and the bank does not pay any interest towards them. Banks in India also would reach that status soon.

Your bank may charge for any service if it has been specified by the bank. Otherwise, the services attached to and offered with any account typically adhare to the type of the account. As in No Frills accounts there are many limitations on deposits and withdrawls. So better you clearify this with your bank and also refer to the RBI Circular on this. for further clearification, kindly give the name and bank's name and type of account-savings, current, no frills, or else....?

The account is saving bank account, Gold Debit Card the limit of the account is one lakh only.  The account has not crossed more than 65,000/- in annum in total transaction.

Moreover they have already debited Rs.500/- annual maintenance charges.

apart from they are now restricting the only the cash transaction 5 times  above in month.
