Is incomet tax clearance certificate needed?

Query: I am planning to sell my flat in a cooperative society in mumbai. Do I need to obtain Income tax clearance certicate?

(ITCC)

Dear Sir,

Please find attached Income tax clearance certificate abolished certificate for your reference and records.

A decision was taken by the Board in
January, 2003 regarding the requirement of
obtaining Income-tax Clearance Certificates
by various persons. It was decided that with
effect from the 1st January, 2003, no
Income Tax Clearance Certificate shall be
required to be furnished by any person
while filing a tender for the purpose of
obtaining commercial contracts. A Press
Release to this effect was also issued on
January 20, 2003.

No... I also sold my place but nobody ask about this income tax clearance certificate but yes you must have your valid property papers...

No right now no such provision of seeking prior approval for sale of immovable property is on statute book.
