joint family

One of the brother in a joint family buys a property by his own funds, I would like to know , this property is liable for dispute if any of the brother claims for the share on this property

How can they claim a share in the property which is self acquired property of your brother from his own sources of funds and in name. There cannot be any dispute. Living in a Joint family does not entitle any other family members of the joint family to claim share in the self acquired property of any individual of such family.

 In Your Query itself you have asserted that the proerty is purchased with the Self Funds of Family Member - it can not be Joint Family property - other Family members can not claim  share in the Self acquired property of  individual  Family member- in his name  !
