Complainant exemption from appearance

whether exemption from appearance can be allowed to complainant also cases u/s 138 N I Act, as available to accused, since there are a number of dragged hearings on lame excuses by accused and since there is only one or two occasions where the presence of complainant for cross required, if yes, please tell section also.

complainants presense is not needed except for cross, your advocate can be present on the date.
