Sir,
my mother in law has a proprety under pagdi system in mumbai. however after my father in law passed away in 2008 she didint pay rent to the landlord.
we thought of rennovating the house as it was in a bad state, however the landlord has locked the house while the house contractor was away. he is demanding 3.5 lakhs
to transfer the property from my mother in laws name to my wifes name since my mother in law has not paid their rent.
1)can he lock the house during our absence ? is it legal?
2)Do we have need to transfer the property in my wife's name ?
3)Can he sell the house to someone else without our permission ?
4) since the landlord has already locked the house can we take action against him?
