Can a minor file a case in the court

Dear Sir(s),

I am 17 years old. My mother has died 3 months back in a road accident.  She was living along with me seperated with my father since my birth due to not good relations. Now I am living with my mother's parents. But now my father has claimed for the compansation against motor accident act after accidental death of my mother and also applied for the pension fund due to the govt. job of my mother.

Please advise can I go for the stay in court. in case of I am minor what are the options under which I can stop my father from taking the benefits after the death of my mother since he has not cared/ lived with us from last 17 years.

Thanks
