Mamta banerjee

A group of lawyers has come out in support of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s controversial remark on judiciary in which she had said the court judgments could be bought and which was followed by a contempt petition against her in the Calcutta High Court.

The lawyers, under the banner of All India Legal Aid Forum, said her comment on the judiciary was not amounting to the contempt of court. Joydeep Mukherjee, the general secretary of the group and also the secretary of All India Bar Association, said there are a lot of example about the corruption in the judiciary.

“It would have been better if Mamata Banerjee would have brought forward some facts of corruption, if any, to the knowledge of the concerned authorities,” stated the press release issued by the group.

Mukherjee, meanwhile, said some lawyers would appear in the proceedings of the High Court in the contempt case in support of the chief minister.

I think we are acting hypocrisy, by blaming Mamata, do we donot know how order are passed  by executive magistrste on application under 144 Cr.P.C. By CJM in bail matters. By judge of higher courts on high profile matters etc. The system of quota and lobbing for appointment of judge in high judiciary are to be blamed for it.  The system of having judge of 75:25 ratio of local and non local judges are the root of this problem.

Can we make a system where judges are to be appointed from out side the state, who are to transfered after every 4-5 years and before being transferred a judge should be given a sleeping period of 2  months to complete the judgement which has come for hearing before him. We are having a system of having CJ of High Court of other state, why should not the same system be adopted in cases of appointment of judges of HC.

In this murkey judiciary there also exist very good and dedicated judges, who pronounce judgement without looking for after retirement assingment.
