Pan card

my friends son is NRI. He left for US IN 2001.he completed his masters there and got a job.

he pays income tax there . is it necessary for him to take a PAN CARD here? he has no income in India.

if he purchases any property in India, will he require a PAN CARD ?

since he is NRI he is not required to have PA N. Also, under

Foreign Exchgne Mgt Act he can invest in properties in India for whihc he will require PAN since for a transaction of more than 50K one has to quote PAN.

If he has no income taxable in India, he doesn't require any PAN.

He odesn' require PAN to purchase property in India. However it is adiiferent matter if he gets taxable inconme form he property.
