A Trust is formed under Trust Act and a Society is formed under Societies Act. A trust requires three kinds  of people. The Settler, Beneficiary and the Trustee. Society requires only members.

There are many differences one difference is trust once form cannot revoked while society is revocable. In trust beneficiary is to be declared while in society it is understood for social cause. States have their own law while society is under society Act 1961
