National human rights commission

Indian National Human Rights Commission was setup as a measure for curbing constant pestering by Amnesty International Commission.

Genuine case: Its subjudice somewhere, so dismiss and close forever.

False complaint by someone: A guy winked at Kareena Kapoor on the facebook. Genuine case, issue notice.

You should provide more relevan information abt practical working of this commission.

From whatever I have learnt the Human Rights Commission is hardly functional. It either lacks power or the will to act. Maybe when in cases media raises a hue and cry it might be functioning. However it should not become a refuge of retired judges and ministry officials. Its a considerable drain on the public exchequer. I'm collecting documentation and will write to Amnesty International.

Moreover I'm given to believe that lawyers are not allowed at all if a really genuine aggrieved person files a complaint.

It is a commission without a tooth. Better not waste time on this commission, and i am saying from my own experience. If you go there you will become like a shuttle cook going around from one table to another table till you rae completely exhausted.

Yes, my case was disposed off without my presence or the complainant and without any investigations.

Not only phoney Human Rights Commission, there are many phoney Commissions, Tribunals etc. starting from top to bottom going on in this country. It is not without reason that Anna Hazare and company is protesting. The phoniest of all is the Article 311 of the Constitution based on doctrine of "pleasure" that makes the bureaucrats and police officers practically above the law. So long they succesfully provide "pleasure" to the Governor of State or the President of India, no permission is ever given for their prosecution as per law. It is all the game of give and take of  "pleasure" sanctioned by Constitution! Another is Article 356. The Constitution has many these kind of loophole containing Articles that subvert democracy, justice, freedom and liberty of people on one hand and protect the corrupt on the other hand.
