After Prosecution witnesses are examined, accused shall be questioned under S.311 of Cr.P.C. It is not just a formality.  It is a mandatory provision. 

Sorry. S.311 shall be read as S.313 of Criminal Procedure Code . S. 311 has been wrongly typed by me instead of 313 which is the right provision of law.

1. complaint/fir - u/s154/200

2. cognizance - u/s 190

3. status report or chargesheet - u/s 173

4. charge - u/s 228.

5. statement of the accused - 281

6. P.E

6.a) accused shall be questioned under S.313 of Cr.P.C.

7. defence

8. final arguments

9. order/ conviction u/s 31

is this correct or are there any more additions to it!??

In Summons case the accused apears or is brought before the Magistrate the particulars of offence of whcih he is  accused shall be stated to his under Sec 251 CR.P.C. 

PL read and understand CrPC with respect to proceedings, divide it into 3 parts, Warrant, Summon and summary. Things will become very clear to you.

I agree with mr. R Trivedi. purchase any good textbook of crpc. there you will get a clear distinction of all the trial procedures. rest will be cleared after you visit the court & see a trial.

could u suggest any good books that will help me clarify the difference? and the reason why i asked is because i was getting confused after reading the book..
