Workman related

Our company is into construction business & it does not maintain a Workmen Compensation Fund.

However, the co. has taken  an insurance policy for its labourers ,

1.Is it still compulsory for them to maintain the Fund???  Pls provide me with the law in this regard.

2. Also is a  construction company  covered under notified establishment under the Employees State Insurance Act,1948.

Please advice me at the earliest its very urgent to me.

Thanks a lot in advance!!!!

As per the Workmen's Compensation Act (now renamed as Employees' Compensation Act), the employer can take a policy from LIC, The employees as on pay roll will be updated periodically to the LIC, for coverage under the Policy.
